3. Driver (Contractual)
Educational Qualification (Essential):
- Must be a resident of West Bengal
- Passed Class VIII from a recognized school
Driving Requirements:
- Must possess a valid Driving License for Light Motor Vehicles (LMV)
- License must be valid for at least two years as on 01 January 2025
Experience:
- Minimum two years of driving experience in a Government organization, Quasi-Government organization, or registered private company

Salary Scale / Remuneration
The selected candidates will receive fixed monthly remuneration on a contractual basis. Applicable professional tax and income tax will be deducted as per government norms.
Post-wise Monthly Pay
- Scientific Officer: ₹35,800 per month
- Scientific Assistant: ₹28,900 per month
- Driver: ₹16,000 per month

Nature and Tenure of Appointment

Duties and Responsibilities
Scientific Officer
Scientific Officers will be responsible for managing and executing forensic operations at crime scenes. Their duties include:
- Observing and thoroughly documenting crime scenes
- Taking high-quality forensic photographs and preparing detailed sketches
- Recording precise notes related to evidence location and condition
- Identifying, collecting, labeling, and preserving physical evidence such as biological material, firearms, trace evidence, and digital evidence
- Ensuring proper chain of custody for all evidence
- Applying advanced techniques to detect latent prints and hidden traces
- Coordinating with police officials, medical personnel, and senior investigators
- Operating and managing mini forensic laboratories at district MFUs
Scientific Assistant
Scientific Assistants will support senior forensic officers during investigations. Their responsibilities include:
- Assisting in crime scene examination and documentation
- Helping collect and preserve evidence such as fingerprints, DNA samples, weapons, and trace materials
- Using photography and sketching techniques to support investigations
- Maintaining strict chain-of-custody protocols
- Preparing materials for laboratory analysis
- Supporting forensic reports and expert testimony
Driver
Drivers play a critical logistical role in forensic operations. Their duties include:
- Safely transporting forensic teams, equipment, and supplies to crime scenes
- Ensuring vehicles remain in excellent working condition for emergency deployment
- Transporting sealed and documented evidence under strict chain-of-custody rules
- Parking vehicles strategically to avoid disturbing crime scenes
- Assisting with movement of forensic equipment and kits
