Vacancy Details (Category-Wise)

The 61 vacancies are distributed across various categories as follows:

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Nationality: Must be an Indian citizen.
  2. Educational Qualification:
    • Must possess a B.L. or LL.B. degree from a recognized university.
    • Must be enrolled as an Advocate in the Bar Council.
    • Must have a minimum of 3 years of active practice as an Advocate in criminal courts (as on 02.12.2025).
  3. Language Proficiency: Must have adequate knowledge of Tamil (through SSLC, Tamil Medium study, or TNPSC language test).

Age Limit (as on 01.07.2025)

  • General / EWS: 26 – 36 years
  • SC / ST / MBC / DC / BC / BCM: No maximum age limit
  • PwBD: Additional 10 years
  • Ex-Servicemen: Up to 50 years
  • Destitute Widow: No maximum age limit

Application Fee

  • One-Time Registration (OTR): ₹150 (valid for 5 years)
  • Preliminary Exam: ₹100
  • Main Exam: ₹200
  • Exempted: SC / ST / PwBD / Destitute Widow / Ex-Servicemen

Candidates must pay fees online only. Offline payment modes like DD or postal orders will not be accepted.

Salary / Pay Scale

  • Minimum basic pay at Level‑22: ₹56,100 per month
  • Maximum basic pay at Level‑22: ₹177,500 per month
  • So for an APP‑II under Level 22, the basic salary will be somewhere between ₹56,100 and ₹177,500 depending on seniority/step in the pay matrix.

Selection Process

The selection will be conducted in three stages:

  1. Preliminary Examination (Objective Type)
  2. Main Written Examination (Descriptive Type)
  3. Oral Test / Interview

Candidates must qualify in each stage to proceed to the next stage of selection.
